Natural Stone – Marble Benchtops
Our favourite
At Saltwood, we love and respect the ‘real deal’ – no man-made alternative can truly replicate the beauty, texture or feel of solid marble. It brings a level of sophistication and uniqueness that stands the test of time.
Marble begins its journey as limestone, undergoing a remarkable transformation deep underground. Over centuries, heat and pressure reshape its structure, hardening the stone and forming the elegant veining patterns that make marble so distinctive. The presence of various minerals during this process influences its colour and texture, giving every slab has its own character. No two marble benchtops are identical—each tells its own geological story.
While marble is a dense and durable stone, it requires mindful care. Avoiding acidic cleaners and applying an impregnating sealer will help preserve its beauty for years to come. However, we understand that marble isn’t the perfect fit for everyone. As a living stone, it develops a rich patina over time, with marks and scratches becoming part of its natural charm. If you prefer a more uniform and practical surface, consider exploring Stone Ambassador’s Zenith Surfaces, a man-made, resilient alternative.

Solid Timber Tops
Real Warmth
Nothing quite compares to the charm of a solid timber top. Softening a space, its natural beauty brings warmth and character, capturing the essence of a lived-in home – where use and marks simply add to the rich patina on the timber that improves with time.
At Saltwood we tend to position timber tops away from the high-traffic wet areas, instead featuring them on islands or side benches. Whether you opt for Recycled Hardwood or new American Oak, we finish our timber benchtops with an Osmo Oil to nourish and protect the wood, ensuring longevity and resilience.
To preserve the integrity and prevent cracking or discoloration of a timber top, we recommend regular oiling. If you’d prefer a hands-off approach, we’d be delighted to include your project in our scheduled maintenance program, ensuring your timber remain beautifully conditioned year after year.
