Winter, Wood & Warmth

Winter took its time arriving this year with the heat lingering well into May, and the dry spell stretching on. But now, with crisp mornings and long-awaited rain, it’s well and truly time to introduce our new Wood Heater range: Seguin Cheminees and Charnwood Stoves – Available to view and order from our Showroom.

There’s something unmistakable about the warmth and authenticity of a home with a fireplace or wood heater – something modern heating systems simply can’t replicate.  After extensive research into wood heater brands, we selected a double-sided, 100% pure cast-iron Seguin as our working showroom model, alongside two static Charnwoods.  Installed on a solid concrete hearth built by the Saltwood team, our Seguin effortlessly warms the historic Butter Factory Showroom – from polished concrete floors to high raked ceilings.

Why Wood Heaters?

At Saltwood, our design-led, all-inclusive approach means heating and cooling solutions come up often, especially when designing large open-plan kitchen-living spaces.  While split systems and ducted heating serve their purpose, nothing compares to the warmth and atmosphere of a wood fire.

Whether it’s the excitement of lighting the first fire of the season or coming home to a warm heater after a long day, once you’ve lived with wood heating, convenience alone doesn’t quite cut it.  That’s why, in many of our projects, we install both.  Split systems for instant comfort, and a Charnwood wood heater or feature Seguin Cheminee for those evenings when atmosphere matters.

What Did We Look for in Our Wood Heater Range?

A Saltwood Tradition: Woodcutting Day

With every wood heater, there is the consideration of sourcing good, dry wood.  As the old saying goes, “Firewood warms you twice—once when you chop it, and once when you burn it!”

At Saltwood, for our Showroom wood heater, we’ve made woodcutting a bit of a team tradition.  Once a year, the guys head out to Oaksham Farm for a full day of chainsaws, wood splitters, BBQ lunch, and an axe competition: to settle the pecking order for the next 12 months!  It’s about effort and reward – just like everything we build. 😊

Interested in joining the team?  We look forward to hearing from you.
